lyrics

LIKE DYING EMBERS AS FLAMES GO OUT
MY THOUGHTS ARE HAZY, I DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY’RE ABOUT.
AFTER SO MUCH TRYING, AND SO LITTLE TO BE FOUND.
FROM THE WORLD YOU WERE IN
I THOUGHT THAT I COULD MAKE A SMILE.
GIVE YOU LOVE AND THEN STAY WITH YOU A WHILE.
BUT THE TIME IS PAST, I GUESS I’LL JUST BE GONE.
SO REMEMBER ME AS ONE WHO CAME TO CARE…
BUT THE FEELINGS THAT I THOUGHT YOU FELT
WERE NEVER REALLY THERE.

I KNOW IT’S MADNESS TO SAY GOODBYE.
BUT THE TRACE OF SADNESS THAT’S IN YOUR EYES
IS MORE THAN I CAN BEAR, I GUESS I’LL JUST BE GONE.
AND IF SOMETIME AFTER I’VE GONE AWAY,
YOU WAKE UP RAINING ON A SUNNY DAY,
THEN YOU’LL UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF MY SONG.
AND REMEMBER ME AS ONE WHO CAME TO LOVE…
BUT COULD NOT STAY, SO HE WALKED AWAY
BEFORE HE HAD TO RUN

FROM THE PAIN AND UNCERTAINTY
OF HOPING YOU WERE RIGHT FOR ME,
BUT KNOWING THAT YOU WOULD NOT LET ME NEAR.
AND THE NEED TO HIDE THAT YOU HAVE SHOWN
IS BROUGHT ON BY THE PAIN YOU’VE KNOWN.
BUT MEMORY CAN ONLY LEAD TO FEAR
SO THINK OF ME AS ONE WHO CAME TO GO…
AND LEFT WITH JUST A MEMORY TO SHOW
AND LEFT WITH JUST A MEMORY TO SHOW

about

Jack Nimersheim Fort Mitchell, Kentucky

Fifty years!

That's how much time has passed since I first stepped on stage, picked up a guitar, and started playing music for the folks "out there".

Lucky for you, I don't have any recordings of those "teenage" performances. The albums on this page, however, provide a pretty good retrospective of the music I've been fortunate enough to help create, between the early '70s and now.
