lyrics

YOU CAN FLY

You can laugh.
You can cry.
You can shake your head and wonder why.
Or you can spread your wings, baby you can fly.

Caught in deception, we were living a lie.
You were married to midnight,
and I was waiting for the Sun to shine.
You said love was redemption,
And I said, I just can’t believe that’s true.
But if you think we can make an exception,
Then I’d be willing to try making love to you.

You can laugh.
You can cry.
You can shake your head and wonder why.
Or you can spread your wings, baby you can fly.

Bodies in motion, we went right up to the borderline.
You were hoping for freedom,
and I was holding onto what was mine.
You said love was devotion.
And I said, I just don’t believe that’s so.
With a love that’s as deep as the ocean,
You can still be overcome by the undertow.

You can love.
You can lie.
You can pack your bags and say goodbye.
Or you can spread your wings, baby you can fly.

You’ve got to find your path and go the right way,
That’s not my way.
But when you’re coming to the end,
If you think you need a friend.
I’ll be right around the bend
When you set off down the highway.

You can live.
You can die.
You can look the devil in the eye.
Or you can spread your wings, baby you can fly.

You can laugh.
You can cry.
You can shake your head and wonder why.
Or you can spread your wings, baby you can fly.

Jack Nimersheim Fort Mitchell, Kentucky

Fifty years!

That's how much time has passed since I first stepped on stage, picked up a guitar, and started playing music for the folks "out there".

Lucky for you, I don't have any recordings of those "teenage" performances. The albums on this page, however, provide a pretty good retrospective of the music I've been fortunate enough to help create, between the early '70s and now.
